Translation and Apostille Rules

Sworn translations: All foreign-language documents must be translated by a sworn translator (tlumacz przysiegly) registered in Poland. Cost: 50-150 PLN per page. Turnaround: 1-5 business days.

Apostille: Documents issued outside the EU (marriage certificates, diplomas, police clearances) typically require an apostille from the issuing country. Hague Convention countries: apostille only. Non-Hague countries: consular legalization required.

Tip from practitioners: Burman Robinson, which handles family reunification TRCs in Warsaw, identifies the apostille on marriage certificates as the most frequently missing document — absent in roughly 40% of first submissions they review. Obtaining an apostille retroactively from abroad typically adds 2-4 months to the total timeline.
